Rainphase draws on characteristics of water to mirror the beauty and chaos of New Zealand rain. From precipitation to evaporation, the piece explores its complete lifecycle with a wide spectrum of timbres and rhythms to convey sound and movement.

Originally composed for the 2015 NZSO National Youth Orchestra and was awarded the 2016 SOUNZ Contemporary Award.
